River Conditions Update

November 19, 2008



There is approximately 18 hours of lock delay at Lock 52 (OR938.9) and Lock 53 (OR963).



Several buoys are missing on the Lower Mississippi around the Memphis area. The U.S.

Coast Guard is in the process of resetting the buoys, minor delays are expected.



The river gauge on the Lower Mississippi between Cairo and Rosedale continues to fall.

We are experiencing heavy channel delay on the Lower Mississippi.



Weir construction is taking place at LM650, expect delays in this area. Construction is

expected to continue through next week.



St. Louis Harbor (UM181-UM184) will have a series of closures beginning Monday,

November 17, 2008 for dredging and weir construction. The maintenance is expected to

close the harbor for 14 hours consecutively and opening 10 hours to allow marine traffic to

pass through November 22, 2008. Delays are anticipated.



Lock 5 at UM738.10 will be closed to all navigation beginning 0001 on December 1, 2008

through 0001 March 1, 2009 for valve maintenance.



Lock 10 will be closed to all navigation for the installation of lock bulkhead slots beginning

0001 December 8, 2008 through 0001 March 8, 2009.



The river gauge on the Lower Mississippi between Cairo and Rosedale continues to fall.

Shallow drafts may impact transit times.



Old River Lock at LM304 will be closed for 30-45 days for maintenance beginning

Monday, October 20, 2008. The lock is tentatively scheduled to reopen around December 2,

2008.



R.C.Byrd Lock, (OR279), will close the main lock 10/27/08 thru 11/28/08.



The auxiliary chamber at Dashields Lock at OR13.3 will be closed for repair November 15-

21, 2008. Expect delays during the repair period.

Dashields Lock, (OR13.3), main chamber will be closed 11/10/08-11/14/08. The

auxiliary chamber will close 11/15/08 thru 11/21/08.

Belleville Lock, (OR203.9), will close 11/10/08 thru 12/19/08, main chamber.

R.C.Byrd Lock, (OR279), will close 10/27/08 thru 11/28/08, main chamber.

Meldahl Lock, (OR436), will close the main lock 07/28/08 thru 10/17/08.

Lock 15, (UM483), auxiliary closed till further notice.

Port Allen Lock (LM228.4), will close 8/01/08 thru 09/15/08. POSTPONED UNTIL 2009



Industrial Canal Lock (LM92.6), will be closed for dewatering beginning August 1,

2008 for approximately 60 days.
