River Conditions

Dredging operations have commenced at Upper Miss 589.5 and will continue for

approximately 3 months.



Hannibal RR Bridge (Upper Miss 309.9) will be requiring 6-hour closures (9:00 am to

3:00 pm) on June 5,7,12 and 14 to replace haul ropes. From 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on

June 4, 6, 11 and 13 the bridge will be open to navigation.



Greenup Lock (Ohio River 341) main chamber will be closed for miter gate replacement

between June 4th and August 31st.



R.C. Byrd Lock (Ohio River 279) will be closed for gate casting replacement between

September 3rd and December 21st.



Markland Lock (Ohio River 531.5) - the remaining work for the major rehab of the main

lock chamber is scheduled from June 18th through August 3rd. All traffic will continue

to be passed through the auxiliary lock until the work is completed. The auxiliary

chamber is scheduled for closure from August 4th through August 15th. During this

period a repair crew will perform repairs to the Emergency Gate Closure for this

chamber. No current delay.



Lock 52 (Ohio River 938.9) has no current delay.



Meldahl Lock (Ohio River 436.2) will have a miter gate changeout between March 5th

and June 1st. This will result in the auxiliary chamber being closed during this period.

No current delay.




The main chamber of Lock and Dam 53 (Ohio River 962.6) will have intermittent lock

closures from August 20th, 2012 through October 26th, 2012. These closures will not

exceed 10 hours each and will be used for installation of filling and emptying valves.

The auxiliary chamber of the lock will also have intermittent closures during this

same time period. At no time will both lock chambers be closed simultaneously.

Lock Closures

2012....



Ohio River.....



Greenup Lock (Mile 341) main chamber will be closed for miter gate

replacement between June 4th and August 31st.

March 5th and June 1st. This will result in the auxiliary chamber being

closed during this period.



Lock and Dam 53 (Mile 962.6) will have intermittent lock closures

between August 20th and October 26th for the installation of filling and

emptying valves. These closures will not exceed 10 hours. The auxiliary

chamber of the lock will also have intermittent closures, but at no time

will both lock chambers be closed.





Tennessee River....



Wilson Main Lock (Mile 259.4) the lock is scheduled for closure to

navigation from 06:00 on April 24th through 18:00 on May 17th. The

auxiliary lock will be available to pass traffic during this time.



Kentucky Lock (Mile 22.4) expect longer lockage times and temporary

delays 4/2 through 5/25. There will be 8 periods where the lock will be

closed for 12 hours. Work will be performed 20 hours per day.



Kentucky Lock (Mile 22.4) the lock is scheduled for closure to navigation

from 06:00 on June 19th through 18:00 on July 26th to inspect and

repair the underwater components of the lock. No auxiliary lock will be

available, but traffic will be able to pass through an alternate route via

the Cumberland River through Barkley Lock and Barkley Canal.



Chickamauga Lock (Mile 471.0) will be closed to navigational traffic

between August 21st and September 13th. No auxiliary lock will be

available during this time.



Cumberland River.....



Cheatham Lock (Mile 148.7) will be closed to navigational traffic

between October 16th and November 15th to inspect and repair the

underwater components of the lock. No auxiliary lock will be avaialble

during this closure to pass traffic.



Tenn Tom......



Rankin Lock (TT 398.4) and Montgomer Lock (TT 406.7) will be closed

beginning at 06:00 on September 11th and end by 18:00 on September

16th.





Arkansas River.....



Chateau L/D (401.4) is scheduled to be closed from 12AM August 20th

until 12PM September 9th, 2012 to repair downstream pintle balls and

bushings. Mariners may contact the lock operator for further

information.



Ozark-Jeta Taylor (256.8) is scheduled to be closed for maintenance

and repair from 1:00 A.M. July 30th until 11:00 P.M. August 6th, 2012.

Mariners may contact the lock operator for further information.



Dardanelle L/D (205.5) is scheduled to be closed for maintenance and

repair from 1:00 AM August 22nd until 11:00 PM September 3rd, 2012.

Mariners may contact the lock operator for further information.
